If you are experiencing mental health problems, or are concerned about someone you know, then a GP can help. GP’s act as a first point of contact and can provide initial support as well as providing signposting / referral and advice on mental health services.
If you, or someone you know, is currently experiencing a mental health crisis, you can also call NHS 111 and select the mental health option.
NHS 111 are available 24/7, you will speak to a mental health professional who can listen to you and help you find the right support.

There are many support networks in the area the Mental Health Support Brochure has many different services that can help. Many of the services in the brochure can be contacted immediately by yourself or a worried family member. You will find self referral links within the brochure. It also gives links for young people, parents and carers to find help and support.
Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team
The team provides specialist assessment for people aged 16yrs+ who need urgent mental health care. This assessment helps to understand and agree:
- What your current needs are
- How you may be able to be supported
- This includes your mental and physical health needs as well as any social care needs you may have.
- Identifying if there are any risks to yourself or others. This is to minimise any possible harm and support your well-being.
- A range of professional’s work within the team including nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, support workers, doctors, and trainee staff.
*In some areas, where people have been supported by child and adolescent mental health crisis services, support will be given from the age of 18yrs.*
