Protect yourself by having the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccine

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE VACCINE?

• turn 75 years of age on or after 1 September 2024
• are already aged 75 to 79 years old on 1 September 2024

WHAT IS RSV?

RSV is a virus that is transmitted in a similar way to flu and covid.  It is a common cause of cold symptoms especially in winter.  Most people have mild symptoms but for those who are older or more vulnerable it can make them very poorly just like flu and covid.  RSV infection is not new, it’s been around for years, it’s just that we now have a vaccine that we can use to protect against it.

HOW IS THE VACCINE GIVEN?

It is given as an injection usually into the upper arm just like flu or covid.
